Make sure that you have an efficient raw water flow to your engine, by including a water strainer into the suction line.
Even small dirt particles can damage the impeller of the water pump, or are the cause of clogging-up in the cooling water channels in the long run. The water strainer must be fitted above the waterline, so no water can intrude when the seacock is not closed while opening the filter. Having a water strainer installed, this facilitates the adding of anti-freeze to the raw water circuit, before winter storage. The filter element can easily be removed and cleaned and the transparent cover enables an efficient checking of the water flow.
